Kelvin Hughes Expands its Sales Force
- 19 Mar 2009
Kelvin Hughes has expanded its international sales team to meet the growing interest in its range of hi-tech radar equipment for the commercial, military and leisure sectors. Ian Yuill has been appointed International Sales Manager and Peter Chahal and Wilko Smit have become Area Sales Managers.
Ian Yuill (right) has a strong background in Sales & Marketing spanning over 25 years with companies such as Northern Foods, BT and BBL Medical. He joined Kelvin Hughes from US based software company, Compassoft, where he managed the European sales operation as Director of EMEA.
My role as International Sales Manager is to further strengthen the sales and marketing division and help implement strategies to achieve a broader and more integrated customer base explained Mr Yuill.
An advantage of coming from outside the navigation and marine industry is that I am able to review our current sales efforts from a different perspective and introduce new ideas to the team.
Wilko Smit (left), originally from Rotterdam, served in the Royal Dutch Navy for six years as a Technical Specialist before working as a Sales Engineer for one of Kelvin Hughes’ main distributors. He says:
I grew up in the middle of Europe’s biggest port and have worked in the maritime industry for 11 years. I believe my experience, especially in the retrofit and newbuild sectors, will serve me well in my new role. Wilko Smit was appointed Area Sales Manager for the Benelux region.
Peter Chahal (centre) worked in the oil industry for twenty years, holding business development and sales roles in a string of major multinational corporations before joining Kelvin Hughes as Area Sales Manager for Northern UK, Southern Europe and North Africa. Mr Chahal says:
I am impressed by the rich history of the company and the excellent product range. I have been pleasantly surprised by how well I am received by potential new customers – this speaks volumes for the good name of Kelvin Hughes.
Business Development Manager, John Davis says:
I am confident that Ian, Wilko and Peter will help us reach a wider range of potential customers. They are especially keen to promote the new SharpEye™ solid state radar technology that we have developed. This will revolutionise the radar industry, providing performance and reliability that has previously only been possible with multi-million dollar military systems.
