Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day
- 23 Jun 2017
In support of International Women in Engineering Day, Kelvin Hughes, has interviewed two of its female engineers to get their personal perspectives.
International Women in Engineering Day is taking place today the 23rd June 2017. Established by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES), which is currently celebrating its 95th anniversary, this annual event is designed to focus attention on the outstanding achievements being made by women in engineering and technical roles and make girls and young women aware of the wide range of opportunities available to them.
Two of Kelvin Hughes team members Erika Rubyte and Anna Lee along with their colleague Ana Butcher have stepped forward to help promote this important day and act as role models for other women thinking of a career in engineering.
Whilst engineering itself may not resonate with everyone, these role models highlight the fact that there are many opportunities in and around the engineering profession from mechanical engineering to software development and from production engineering to programme management to mention a few. Often the product or the service a company provides can be the inspiration, in the case of Kelvin Hughes there is the opportunity to be part of the development and supply of advanced radar systems.
