Gold Sponsor of the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI)
- 16 Feb 2016
Kelvin Hughes is delighted to be a Gold Sponsor of the 2016 Annual Conference of the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI).
Being held at the Mercure Hull Royal Hotel in Hull on the 17th and 18th February, this national event will feature discussions and debate led by some of the most senior figures in the industry on three major topics:
- Sustaining the UK lead in Maritime Autonomous Systems;
- Opportunities and challenges in maritime engineering offshore;
- The naval dimension of the forthcoming Strategic Defence & Security Review.
The third of these themes is of particular significance for Kelvin Hughes following the recent announcement by the Ministry of Defence that as part of a £44 million project to upgrade navigation systems, Kelvin Hughes SharpEye™ radar transceivers are to be fitted to more than 60 Royal Navy ships, submarines and shore facilities. The company has a long record of developing industry-leading naval radar applications and SharpEye™ systems are currently being deployed by 27 of the world’s navies.
