Senior Systems Engineers

Senior Systems Engineers are required within the Surveillance Systems business to develop and deliver Company and Customer Funded systems projects based upon Kelvin Hughes’ state of the art radar technology.  Activities will include all aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle from System Concept through to Delivery and Acceptance, including Bid Support, System Design and System Integration.

Experience of systems design, integration & test.

An understanding of Systems and Product lifecycles from concept through to delivery.

An understanding of a range of Engineering disciplines (Software, Mechanical, and Electrical).

Good inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate to all levels within the organisation and externally.

The flexibility to apply skills and knowledge across a number of different projects and products across the organisation.

Ideally qualified to Degree level in Engineering/Mathematics/Physics although relevant, equivalent experience is acceptable.

All Senior Systems Engineering personnel are expected to show motivation and initiatie in planning thier own activities so as to acheieve timely and effective results with little supervision.  As this is a customer-facing role, a confident manner and smart appearance is required, with the ability to communicate clearly wthin the company at all levels and with customers whose first language may not be English.  


Graduate Technical Services Engineer

Working within the Customer Service Department the job holder is required to be responsible for various technical activities, the core activities are the provision of Post Design Service (PDS) and Customer Technical Support. The PDS activities will be identified via the Product Performance Process (PPR), Obsolescence issues or via Customer Support contracts. These could lead to the control of internally-funded PDS development/ production programs. Therefore a close liaison with Projects, Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Customer Services, Quality and Accounting departments within the Company will be required to fulfil this task. The role holder is also part of the Customer Service Support Team and will be expected to provide a lead role in the provision of technical support for Kelvin Hughes customers and the services it provides. There will also be a link to the Engineering design team for products to ensure previous ‘lessons learnt’ are captured and incorporated during the design process.

Requirements: - Computer Science or Electronics degree, with a good networking understanding and sound electronics.


Material Planner

Scheduling raw materials demand through MRP to meet targeted stock levels and finished goods production programmes. To plan Production tasks to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time and in full to meet customer expectations. Liaise with key stakeholder departments including: Logistics, Sales, Customer Services, Engineering and Finance to ensure achievement of declared forecasts and project programmes.

This position would suit a college leaver with good 'A' levels results in Maths, English and Business Studies.


Security Solutions

Senior Systems Engineer (Security Solutions)

Senior Systems Engineer is required within the Security Solutions Division to ensure that consistent and compliant System Solutions are delivered to customers, meeting the needs of the Security business. You will need extensive knowledge of product development, engineering change management, systems engineering and quality systems and their practical application. Knowledge of radar (or communications) system design and performance analysis. Proven experience of integration and demonstration of equipment and subsequent acceptance by customer / end users. Proven experience of sensor integration into varied platforms. Proven technical skills, relating to effective systems engineering, practical application of quality assurance and configuration control, as well as appropriate document generation. Sound commercial/business awareness, inter-personal skills. Computer literacy, including CAD applications. Knowledge of electro optical camera solutions

Job Functions:

Definition and delivery of Systems solutions for the Security business.

Technical support to Sales and Marketing including generating information to support bids, technical presentations to customers, generation of product specifications and attendance at customer meetings.

Provide technical design solutions to support proposed system changes and bids ensuring appropriate compliance with customer, business and legislative requirements including safety.

Adopt a consistent approach to systems engineering activities throughout the design life cycle.

Take an active involvement in new product design, providing system level input from product definition through to release into production.

Maintain and support legacy/delivered systems including visits to customer sites and installations where necessary.

Monitor and, where possible, introduce up to date technology into Kelvin Hughes system designs.

Travel within the UK and overseas is required, and is considered a frequent feature of this role. This could be required at short notice. It may also involve deployments of up to 6 weeks at a time.

Promote the work of Kelvin Hughes in the field of Systems Engineering through attendance at conferences and seminars and where appropriate, through the presentation and publication of technical papers • Any other tasks associated with this role.

Key Relationships:

Technical liaison within and outside Kelvin Hughes with customers, suppliers and collaborators on systems related matters.

Support the Security Systems Design Authority in the definition and implementation of Systems Engineering processes and practices across the department

Act as a role model for more junior staff


Degree level qualification in Engineering / Mathematics / Science subject (or equivalent relevant experience)


Sales Director

The ideal candidate will have in depth security sector sales experience. The position will focus on identifying sales opportunities and winning business. The candidate would require the ability to seek out and find business opportunities, to communicate with customers at all levels, manage and generate high quality bids and proposals and then follow them through to profitable conclusion.
