Kelvin Hughes is constantly setting new standards in surveillance radar technology applying its core SharpEye™ technology in new ways to provide radar surveillance and detection capability in a way that is sensibly configured, priced and suited to the wide range of applications that demand radar as the primary tool for continuous, all weather and day or night surveillance and security missions.

Kelvin Hughes provides two types of ground surveillance radar, which operate in the X-Band frequency range, are solid state transceivers, providing long and short range surveillance and security capabilities.

BOXER Ground Surveillance Radar

BOXER Ground Surveillance Radar is the new standard in surveillance capability. The BOXER family of lightweight coherent radars utilising the core SharpEye™ technology has been designed to meet the various requirements of security, defence and quasi-military users. A modular, scalable and unique processing architecture packages our solid state technology for a wide range of portable, deployable and fixed applications.

BOXER SharpEye™ X-band surveillance radars are low cost, low power consumption, lightweight, ultra-high reliability, superior in performance and will integrate easily with electro-optical systems. The combination of SharpEye™ advanced Doppler processing and a new electronically scanned phased array gives the user a unique set of scanning options, electronic beam steering, continuous scanning including all round scanning and stare capability.

BOXER is the first real time long range surveillance radar capable of providing detection of extremely small and slow moving targets in bad weather, difficult terrain, day or night. It is the ideal surveillance solution for forward operating bases protection, Special Forces missions, border monitoring and critical infrastructure protection. BOXER is designed to integrate with camera sensors and C2 systems.

• MPS Family – Portable system designed to be carried by two persons or on a quad bike. Mounting methods include tripod and vehicle mast.
• MDS Family – Trailer / small vehicle mounted system designed to integrate with other sensors and function autonomously or be networked.
• MIS Family – Fixed installation system that discreetly mounts on the side of building or mast providing real time long range surveillance.

SharpEye™ SxV

SharpEye™ SxV is a lightweight, low cost, low power, environmentally sealed X-band surveillance and tracking system designed to bridge the gap between high end phased array battlefield ground surveillance radars and less capable FMCW and motion activated sensor solutions.

Greatly reduced radar mass and reduced physical footprint of the SharpEye™ transceiver enables the SharpEye™ SxV to overcome the inherent performance limitations of other radars in cluttered environments day or night and in all weather conditions. It presents operators with a high quality radar picture via a chosen display option, detecting and tracking personnel, vehicle and airborne targets from approximately 30m to 15km.

SharpEye™ SxV offers low cost, low power consumption, lightweight, ultra-high reliability and superior performance. Doppler processing enables the detection of extremely small and slow targets in inclement weather and difficult terrain.
